Sexual Energy / Healthy OR Addictive?
I am of the view that the great majority of people have some form of sexual addiction and misplaced sexual energy. It can be very subtle, since we live in a society that in fact supports addictiveness and encourages us to use most of our pleasures addictively.
In effect, we live in a society that does not talk about sex in a healthy way, does not provide good role models and has little solid information about healthy sexuality and as a result, has made it impossible for any of us to have received good parenting or to do well with our children.
Sexual energy is the fuel for our natural ability to become sexually aroused and engage in sexual activity. It draws people towards each other, turning friends into lovers, as sexual energy bring about bonding. Sexual bonding is seen in the outward signs of falling in love. Among them are intense looks, strong interest in the other, sharing life stories, looking deeply into each other's eyes, spending large amounts of time together and sexual arousal. These are natural uses of SEXUAL ENERGY.
We are all born with an innocent form of this energy. Our little bodies come equipped with the ability to feel every pore and receive many kinds of information. Young people who have not been shamed or touched in contaminated ways feel free and joyful with the earliest forms of their sexual selves. In their innocence they can allow this energy to ebb and flow as it will. As adults we have the potential to reclaim the innocent presence of sexual feelings.
Innocence does not last long. The carriers of our culture impose damaging influences on sexuality, and as young children we respond. Our sexuality changes. We learn to hide it or repress it entirely. Or else we find that it surges up and dominates our feelings at a young age. By the time puberty arrives the groundwork is laid for difficulty with the influence of sex hormones. NO ONE ESCAPES. The influences are built into our culture.
Rather than teach children about sex and marriage between man and women, schools now teach kids as young as six about consent while eight-year-olds will be taught about same-sex relationships under a revamped sex-education.
Confusing LOVE with SEX has damaged many people and the consequences are being seen now.
