The Importance of Rest to Stay Young

Illnesses

Before embarking on a nutritional balancing program, you would find my mother on the cross country ski trails and in summer on her bike.   She enjoyed being a ski and bike patrol on the most popular trail in the country called "le petit train du Nord" until the age of 70 and continued to cross country ski and bike riding until the age of 79.

My love of the outdoors came from my mom. In winter time, Ann would bring my sister and myself to the ice ring either during the day or early evening and in summer she'd take us to the public swimming pool.  I don't remember seeing my mom rest other than on Sundays.

While on the phone with my mom in St-Sauveur Quebec, from Vancouver, B.C., I asked her (Ann) if she would rather look young OR look old and feel young and she said that looking young when older is simply an illusion one creates for others but no one can turn back the clock.
My Mom
My mom at 77
Ann, has had many different surgeries throughout her lifetime.  At the age of 45, she had non-Hodgkin lymphoma in the female groin area.  She had it removed then because of ignorance and not being aware of natural healing modalities. Today, she is persuaded that she would most likely not have any surgeries because she has more faith  in alternative ways of healing than the traditional way, although this was evidently not always the case.

What made Ann a believer is in the summer of 2013, she retraced a pneumonia.  It took her well over 3 months to to get rid of the infection without medication but she was determined to follow the program along with all the procedures, including daily near infrared saunas and coffee enemas.  She rested a lot, took lots of naps during the day and turning in early evenings. This paid off.  By the time she was tested by her physician, her lungs were all cleared away.  The diet, supplements, and other procedures made a world of difference for her. The pneumonia was retraced when she was a little girl, which was still infecting her lungs.

I suspect Ann healed her pneumonia without medication because of her determination.  Also by being faithful to the program, meant also that she was building faith in it and building faith in the body's capacity to heal itself without intervention of drugs or licensed MD's.  Certainly, this was not without some risks.  She knew that following her doctors' orders meant "healing" faster but this also meant robbing her of energy to fight any future infection and illness. It was a perpetual vicious cycle, she was not willing to embark on anymore.

Also she said that the greatest tragedy of getting old for many is being inactive due to illness and the lack of energy.  She counts her blessings, since at the age of 77, Ann still cross country skies every winter at least twice or three times a week.

Faith & The Importance of Sleep

My mom says she is wiser now, as she knows that saving energy is the same as saving for your old age retirement.  She has learned to slow down more and rest.

Rest is one of the most important aspect of the nutritional balancing program.  Going to bed between 8pm and 9pm and stay in bed until at least 7am.

The reason for bed early is because human growth hormone is produced during the hours of sleep before midnight and the deep rebuilding of the body seems to occur the most before midnight as well. This is why going to bed as early as is conveniently possible, and no later than 9 pm every night is excellent.

Also, trying to get up after 7am is best because the adrenals are less active. You may feel tired at first but this helps rest the adrenals. Although many people wake up and get up at about 5 OR 6am due to the adrenal glands becoming active, this unfortunately prevents the adrenals from resting more and as a result a crash occurs often before noon or right after lunch.

Keep in mind that sleep is the silent healer. Even doctors advise their patients, when sick, to rest as much as possible for speedy recovery, although medication are usually prescribed which only builds more toxic in the body and thus less energy to fight infections.

My suggestion is that you try your best to shut the world out around 6 or 7pm.  Close your TV, computer, cell phone and any other phones.  The earlier you begin to unwind the better for a better sleep.

A lifestyle change to fight any diseases is mandatory.  This means however that you need to prioritize what is important to you and not important for others around you.  Basically, it's a constant reminder everyday that even though you may think you are healthy, deviating to your old ways of eating and lifestyle will most likely create some kind of illnesses.

A vacation is a good time to take a break. It’s a great time to disconnect and to recharge your batteries. It’s also a great time to get out of the office and spend some time with your family and friends. The benefits of taking a vacation far outweigh the costs, so why not do it? There are countless opportunities for great vacations, and you don’t want to miss out on any of them.A vacation is a good time to take a break. Please note that there is only one nutritional balancing science, developed by Dr. Paul Eck. All other claims made by other practitioners, not approved by Dr. Lawrence Wilson on his site, have altered Dr. Eck's principles and as such have no in depth understanding of the science, which is very unfortunate.

Further, altering even one aspect of a nutritional balancing program often ruins it rather completely.  This could be substituting different products that you like better, skipping an aspect of the diet or the supplements, or implementing other diets, such as GAPS OR PALEO, OR something else that people do all the time, such for example using other forms of meditation, other than what is recommended by Dr. Wilson.  In other words, using other products or diets, or meditation, conflicts with the entire program and it seriously reduces its effectiveness. Thus, nutritional balancing science is completely integrated, meaning that the sciences are used together in very unique way and should not be altered by yourself or other practitioners.
