HEMORRHOIDS
by Lawrence Wilson, MD © August 2014, The Center For Development
Hemorrhoids are a common symptom, even in fairly healthy people. They consist of swelling of one or more of the veins that circle the anal opening. Often the swollen vein(s) can be felt, and may protrude outside of the anal opening, causing what feels like a soft bubble in the anal area.
A hemorrhoid is similar, in some ways, to a varicose vein, but the hemorrhoid is located in the rectal area. If mild, hemorrhoids go away when one follows a nutritional balancing program. If severe, galvanic current treatment seems to be excellent, and without pain or the need for surgery.

Symptoms of Hemorrhoids
The main symptoms can be itching, pain upon having a bowel movement, and bleeding with a bowel movement. The blood is bright red and often it appears as a streak of red on the surface of the bowel movement. There can also be discomfort upon sitting down due to the swollen vein in the rectal area. In more severe cases, a swollen vein can protrude from the rectum, requiring the person to literally push the swollen vein back inside the body. Rarely, it is possible for a vein to become caught and strangulated, which could cause serious pain and complications requiring surgery to correct.
Causes for Hemorrhoids
Some of these are well known, while others are not:
1. CONSTIPATION
This is a most important cause for several reasons. Reasons why constipation is associated with hemorrhoids are:
a) Straining to have a bowel movement. This puts pressure on the hemorrhoidal veins that can cause the condition.
b) The bowel movement is hard and often too large in diameter, and this may irritate or otherwise impact the hemorrhoidal veins.
2. STOOL TOO LARGE IN DIAMETER
This is extremely common. It is actually a yin condition of the body, particularly of the large bowel.
3. PRESSURE ON THE VEINS OR CONSTIPATION CAUSED BY CARRYING A BABY, FOR EXAMPLE
Many women report getting hemorrhoids after a pregnancy, particularly if the baby is larger and heavier.
4. COPPER IMBALANCE OR PERHAPS OTHER IMBALANCES ASSOCIATED WITH VEIN HEALTH
Copper, in particular, when in excess, damages connective tissue. This includes the veins. Symptoms such as varicose veins, spider veins, hemorrhoids and other difficulties with the veins can be due to copper imbalance in many cases.
5. STRAINING AT THE STOOL FOR ANY OTHER REASON
For example, some people are just in a hurry to have a bowel movement, so they push down hard, and this can contribute or cause hemorrhoids.
6. LIVER CONGESTION
This is possible. The hemorrhoidal veins empty into the liver. If the liver is too congested, it could cause the blood to back up in the veins, especially if combined with some of the other causes above.
7. OTHER
It is possible to have a chronic or acute infection in the anal area that weakens the veins. The infection could be parasitic or bacterial, for example.

Prevention
Do not strain at the stool. Handle constipation in other ways. Relax when you go to the toilet, and do not be in a hurry. Improve your overall health, as well.
Correction
As one’s health improves on a nutritional balancing program, often hemorrhoids go away. Most mild cases will resolve easily with a nutritional balancing program and healthful, hygienic bowel habits, as explained in the paragraph above.
Galvanic Current Treatment
More severe cases may not resolve, and may require a newer treatment using galvanic current that is applied with simple probes to the area. While I am not sure how this works, it can be very effective, painless and superior to surgery. Not too many doctors offer this therapy, but one could most likely locate a doctor who offers it by researching this treatment on the internet.
Folk Remedies
Many folk remedies claim to help with hemorrhoids. These range from poultices and suppositories made with potato or onions, and wheat grass implants, to over-the-counter remedies such as Basic H. These may help, but I suggest improving the whole body, even if you want to try a folk remedy.

Hemorrhoids During a Nutritional Balancing Program
Once in a great while, I hear about someone who experiences a hemorrhoid during a nutritional balancing program. I do not know why this occurs. In almost all cases, it resolves by itself.
Hemorrhoids & Coffee Enemas
People who have hemorrhoids sometimes find that doing coffee enemas aggravates their condition. This is unfortunate, because coffee enemas are extremely healing for the liver and the colon, in particular. Here are some possible solutions for this problem:
1. Bullet-proof coffee. A possible solution is to switch to the so-called Upgraded coffee, also called bullet-proof coffee (www.upgradedself.com/coffee) It may be less irritating. This coffee is excellent for anyone.
2. S.A. Wilson coffee. This very lightly-roasted coffee seems to be milder and less irritating to the colon, and may be easier to tolerate for those with hemorrhoids. It is too yin, however, so I do not recommend it unless it is necessary.

3. Use a urinary catheter. Instead of using the regular enema tip, one can buy a urinary catheter than attaches to the enema tip. This is a very small diameter catheter that can be placed in the rectum and can bypass the hemorrhoids, so that they do not become irritated.
4. Genital coffee implants. This is not a substitute for coffee enemas, but it is better than no coffee at all. To read about this procedure, please read Genital Coffee Implants on this website.
If these suggestions do not help, then I suggest the galvanic current treatment to eliminate the hemorrhoids so that one can do coffee enemas. This is an instance in which a medical treatment may be very worthwhile.
