Speciality Products on a Nutritional Balancing Program

Endomet Laboratories and other nutritional product companies offer hundreds of interesting nutritional products.  These are helpful in a few instances.  They can help reduce some symptoms and balance body chemistry, but only in a few instances.

In general, however, they are all too yin, so I do not recommend them.  Please do not add them to your nutritional balancing program unless directed to do so.

Reasons NOT TO TAKE these and other common healing products unless absolutely needed.  These include:

1. Yin quality of all herbs and supplements.  This is the most important reason for not adding these products.  All vitamins, minerals, herbs and most specialty products are quite yin, compared to foods, for example.  So adding more of them always make the body more yin, which is not helpful at all for deep healing, even if they offer symptomatic or other types of relief.  For more on this topic, please read Yin Disease and Yin And Yang Healing on this site.

2. Subtle toxicity.  Many health food store products, herbs and so forth have some toxicity.  This is usually overlooked by the doctors who use them.  In part, this is because the toxicity is much lower than that of medical drugs, so they figure it is alright.  However, toxicity of any type is important on a nutritional balancing program, and any toxicity that we notice will slow progress, at times dramatically.

For example, high-dose niacin may lower cholesterol, but it builds up in the liver and slows progress in an important way.  Other very commonly toxic products are all iodine-containing products, even kelp if overdone.  However, kelp has the least toxicity, which is why we use it for almost everyone.

Others include all clays and earth deposits such as humus-based products, humic acid, fulvic acid, diatomaceous earth, zeolite, bentonite, montmorillonite, azomite and even charcoal used for more than a few days.  Others are algaes such as chlorella, spirulina, and blue-green algae.  Most seaweeds or sea vegetables are too high in mercury such as dulse, nori, wakame and others, except for occasional use.  Kelp is less toxic due to a higher alginate content.

Others include high-dose B-complex, high-dose vitamin C, MMS, natural lithium, too much boron, strontium, copper in some cases, manganese in some cases, and even zinc in some cases. Most herbs also have some toxicity, especially the Oriental herbs for some reason, no matter what quality and which brands.  This is just an introduction to the toxicity of natural products, a very subtle, but important aspects of nutritional balancing science.

3. Interfere with or antagonize other supplements.  Another very important reason we rarely use the products below is that any product can antagonize or in some way interfere with other products or foods that we want you to have.  For example, most minerals compete for absorption in the intestines.  For this reason, taking too much of one will tend to reduce the absorption of several others.  Supplements can also antagonize each other at metabolic levels, excretory levels and in other ways.  This is another complex science that is part of nutritional balancing.

4. Unbalance the body chemistry, the oxidation rate, the sympathetic/parasympathetic balance, or perhaps the major mineral ratios on a hair tissue mineral analysis.  This is another vital and often subtle reason to avoid supplements other than those recommended by a competent nutritional balancing practitioner.  A secret to the success and amazing effectiveness of many nutritional balancing programs is to delicately balance the major mineral ratios, oxidation rate, yin and yang balance, and other balances in the body.  Otherwise excellent products, when recommended in a random way, or simply without enough understanding of how the system works, often unbalance and thereby ruin a nutritional balancing program.

Typical ways that products unbalance the body is they either speed up or slow down the oxidation rate too much.  They may unbalance levels or ratios of minerals.  They may chelate or remove vital minerals.  They may even enhance a program to the point where change is occurring faster than we would like.  These are just a few examples of how products easily damage our programs. Please use caution for this reason, always checking with your practitioner if you wish to use other products, including those described below.

5. Interfere with digestion. This may seem unlikely, but we find it occurs often.  Taking a lot of pills, tablets, capsules and especially powders can confuse the body and often upsets digestion. No matter how beneficial a protein drink may be, for example, or a smoothie with egg, flax oil, kombucha tea, vitamins, green powder, whey and so on, it is still quite upsetting to the digestive tract. It is just a poor food combination.  Rebuilding the digestive tract is a primary goal and necessity for optimum health.  This is another reason to exercise extreme care with extra products of all kinds.

6. Cost.  This is an important factor for some people.  We try to keep the cost of the program minimal and reasonable.  Some products, while helpful, are not that important and add more cost to nutrition programs.  We would rather the money be spent on the correct food, carrot juice, wheat grass juice, a sauna, etc.

7. Convenience.  This reason is similar to the one above.  Taking many products that are not that helpful is less convenient, and, at times, causes people to quit the program.  Keeping things as simple as possible is often important to help people stay on a program.

8. Symptomatic approach.  We find that staying away from the remedy mentality and symptomatic methods of care is always best, if it is possible, which it usually is.  Looking for the “magic bullet” or pill that makes you feel your best is always worrisome for this reason.  It can also upset the program in extremely subtle ways.

For example, during a nutritional balancing program, it is normal to have days or even months when your energy level declines, and other times when energy is higher.  This has to do with the biochemical changes taking place in the body.  Some clients are anxious to add or substitute other products when these normal fluctuations occur.  While it is okay in a few cases, in general it will slow the program and can even stop progress altogether.  One must learn to trust the process, within reason, although consulting your practitioner is okay if you feel the program could use modifying or tweaking.

9. General confusion.  Many clients who read on the internet, visit many healing practitioners, and/or subscribe to health newsletters, become very confused as they read about vitamins, herbs or other products that a health authority declares “everyone needs”.  This is a common refrain in articles, magazine, and among holistic doctors.  I call these individuals shoppers.

While occasionally we learn about a good new product from these sources, which I read as well, in almost all cases we have considered this product and rejected it.  We find that people who insist on trying the latest and greatest products almost always make much slower progress on their nutritional balancing program.  This is mainly for all the reasons listed above, but also because they become very confused, doubtful, and their attention and compliance with their diet and other things often wanes.

OTHER EXTRA PRODUCTS FROM ENDOMET LABS THAT ARE USEFUL ONLY ON OCCASION

Acidohilus Enteric is a probiotic, which means a product that supplies friendly or needed flora or organisms that are required for proper bowel activity.  I find that, in almost all cases, if the diet is corrected to omit all sugars, wheat and fruit, and one follows a nutritional balancing program, probiotics are rarely needed.  Also, if one needs some, one can eat a container of plain, live-culture yogurt or perhaps kefir or other fermented product.

Rarely, it may be used for a digestive problem such as a chronic yeast infections and others, or perhaps if the flora have been disturbed by antibilotics or something else.

Dosage: 1 to 4 capsules 10 minutes before meals.  Be sure to keep refrigerated at all times.  Another good probiotic is called Bio-K Original at the health food store.

ATP-Xtra is a combination of magnesium with malic acid.  It is used in cases of fibromyalgia, in particular, for symptomatic relief, and maybe in a few other conditions.

Dosage: 1-1-1 or 2-2-2 with meals.

Betaine HCl-pepsin is a digestive aid.  I much prefer GB-3, however.  For the reasons why, please read the article entitled GB-3.  Betaine HCl and pepsin can be added as a secondary digestive aid, and is helpful in a few cases.  However, it is somewhat stimulatory.

Dosage: 1-1-1 or 2-2-2 with meals.  Some doctors use much more, but I do not find it necessary and, in fact, prefer GB-3 most of the time.  If GB-3 causes diarrhea, which it does on occasion, I prefer Enz-Aid to Betaine HCl and pepsin.  Dr. Eck used this product, however, so the ARL computer often recommends it.

Boron is not sold separately by Endomet Labs.  However, it is found in Paramin, a product I use with most everyone.  Supplements of pure boron are rarely needed, but may be helpful for some cases of hot flashes that do not respond to Thyro-complex and a nutritional balancing program.

In these cases, the dosage is 1-1-1 of a 3 mg tablet or capsule daily, only as long as needed until the underlying causes of hot flashes are corrected.

Caprylate Plus is capryic acid.  It is an anti-fungal and anti-yeast agent that is mild and very safe.  I find that if one will eliminate all sugars, sweet foods, fruit, fruit juices and perhaps most grains from the diet, it is rarely needed.

Dosage: 1-1-1 to 4-4-4 depending on severity of yeast infection.

Coenzyme Q-10 is a wonderful product for energy enhancement in anyone over 50 to 60 years of age.  It is also excellent for cardiac patients, in particular, and may have other uses as well. Definitely take it if you insist on taking a “statin” drug because this class of drugs depletes coenzyme q-10, which is very dangerous.  I never recommend these drugs, by the way, and natural alternatives are far better and just as effective in most cases, such as red rice yeast or chromium or more fiber.

Dosage: about 100 mg daily or a little more.

Colloidal Silver. This is a superb anti-infective agent that is also very low toxicity when used correctly.  Use instead of antibiotics, which are all very toxic, no matter what anyone claims to the contrary, in my view.
This interesting product can be taken orally, but also may be used directly on the skin, inhaled, sprayed up the nose or in the throat, gargled, used as an inhalent, and even used in the ears and eyes if done one drop only, and done very carefully.

Dosage: 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon twice or three times daily for 5-10 days.  Do not take continuously.  Unlike all other products on this page, take colloidal silver about 20 minutes away from all food and all beverages.

Dietary Fiber Tablets is an excellent product from Endomet Labs that is not needed if one eats plenty of fiber.  Rarely it is used to help with some types of constipation, or for other digestive difficulties.

Dosage: 2-2-2 or more daily.

Endo-C 1000. This is a 1000 mg tablet of vitamin C (ascorbic acid form).  I rarely use higher dose vitamin C.  It is not needed and it is extremely yin.  Please do not take more than about 1000 mg of vitamin C on a regular basis for this reason.  I am aware of the excellent research of Dr. Linus Pauling, Dr. Levy, and others.  However, we find that when one balances the body chemistry, high doses of any vitamin, including vitamin C, are rarely needed.

Extra, however, may be used on occasion for colds, flu, other viral infections such as acute AIDS, drug addiction, alcoholism, smoking and perhaps a few other situations.  Dosage in these cases: up to 15 or even 20 grams or 15,000 to 20,000 mg daily for short periods of time only.

Endo-AC is a formula containing vitamins A and C, with high-dose bioflavinoids as well.  It is only rarely used, as its components are in other products.  It can be helpful for allergies, infections, capillary fragility such as that seen with spider and varicose veins, and other situations in which these vitamins and bioflavinoids are needed.

Dosage: 1-1-1 up to 5-5-5 for acute allergies or infections.

Endo-dren is an adrenal glandular support formula.  It is given to many slow oxidizers.  Extra is rarely needed, but may be helpful for severe depression symptoms and for excessive fatigue in slow oxidizers.  It should be used very rarely or not at all for fast oxidizers, as it will tend to unbalance the body chemistry even more in these cases.

Dosage: 1-1-1 or 2-2-2 and rarely more for depression, for example, for a limited time.

EPA-DHA 300.  Besides its use for everyone for omega-3 fatty acids, it is a powerful anti-inflammatory agent for any type of inflammatory problem such as headaches, premenstrual tension, arthritis and many other common conditions.  Excellent for cardiovascular health as well.  So, on occasion, I suggest even more of it
It is also vital for all children for brain development and can be given to infants as well.  A liquid form may be easier in some cases to administer to children than the capsules.

Dosage: 1-1-1 or up to 2-2-2 for a few days to a few weeks in some cases.  Be sure to give less to children, depending on their size and age.

Flax Oil Capsules may be substituted for fish oil (EPA-DHA 300) if needed.  We generally prefer the fish oil, but some people do not tolerate it well and prefer the flaxseed oil.  Hempseed oil is another excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids.

Do not use products that combine omega 3, 6 and 9 oils.  I find these are not as effective, since we don’t need the omega 6 and 9 fatty acids, in general.  Also, I find that cod liver oil, highly touted by many health authorities, is a good product and excellent in some ways.  However, it does not usually supply enough omega-3 fatty acids today, nor does it usually supply enough vitamin D by itself for most people.

G/C 1000 Plus is a combination of glucosamine and chondroitin.   It can be an adjunctive product for cases of arthritis, cartilage problems, rheumatoid disease and perhaps a few other conditions. However, it is usually not required if one eats correctly and if we correct the underlying body chemistry.

ICMN is excellent for fast oxidizers to help them relax.  It also helps with liver detoxification in those who need it.  It contains four methylating agents or methyl donors.  These are inositol, choline, methionine and niacinamide.

Dosage: 2-2-2 to 4-4-4 for anxiety, irritability, orneriness and for poor elimination patterns.

Lithium orotate or aspartate are natural, low-dose forms of lithium, a trace mineral.  The tablet is usually about 5 mg.  This is very different from lithium used by medical doctors, that is often 300 mg given three times daily.  However, the orotate and aspartate forms of lithium are less toxic and better absorbed, so less is needed.

Lithium is absolutely needed in tiny amounts.  However, I rarely use supplements because a diet that is rich in cooked vegetables, not raw ones, will supply enough, in most all cases.  Some doctors, such as Jonathan Wright, MD, ND, recommend everyone take a lithium supplement to protect the brain and perhaps for other reasons.  I do not think this is wise or needed, as it can build up in the body.

I rarely use supplementary lithium for some cases of depression that respond slowly to nutritional balancing, and to help some people wean off of medical lithium that is usually prescribed for bipolar disorder or depression, perhaps.  Usually, it is not needed.  However, if it is, the dosage of lithium orotate or lithium aspartate (5 mg tablets) is 1-1-1 or perhaps 2-2-2 daily until it is not needed as a symptomatic remedy.

Magnesium is needed by most people due to dietary deficiencies.  We give it with calcium to everyone.  Extra magnesium may be used, at times, based on a high calcium/magnesium ratio, faster oxidation rate, or to help with difficult cases of constipation, and perhaps for leg cramps and some cardiovascular conditions.  Endomet Labs sells several magnesium products such as Paramin, magnesium chelate, Spartan MK (aspartate) and ATP-Xtra (with malic acid).  Epsom salts are a form of magnesium.

Magnesium is fairly safe in tablet form.  One client had a stroke after using magnesium oil on the skin for several months.  The dosage orally is 250 – 1000 mg daily.  Too much by mouth will cause diarrhea.

Natural sleep aids.  Sleep is very important.  In most cases, the suggestions from the article entitled Rest And Sleep will work.  If not, wihich is unusual, then products such as Calm Caps from Endomet Labs, valerian, strong chamomile tea, 5-htp, tryptophan, hops and other herbal remedies should be tried first before one takes Excedrin or prescription sleeping pills.

Ova-Adren is useful to increase estrogen.  This can help with menopausal symptoms, though I find that Thyro-complex works much better in many cases and is safer.

Ova-adren contains too much copper for many cases, unfortunately, and the herbs it contains are slightly toxic, so I do not use it much.

Dosage: 2-2-2 or less for some PMS symptoms or menopausal symptoms.  Use with care and do not use at first unless other options have been exhausted such as boron, Thyro-complex.

Pro-Antho X-tra is a powerful antioxidant formula with grape seed extract, pycnogenol and more.  It is an anti-oxidant formula.   It may be helpful for cataracts and other cases of oxidant damage. However, we find that anti-oxidants are too yin in Chinese medical terminology to be used on a long-term basis – a common mistake made by holistic physicians and nutritionists, so be careful. Nutritional balancing can remove the oxidant-causing “amigos”, and that is better.

Dosage: 1-1-1 to 3-3-3 depending on the situation.  Use for several months only, if possible.

Pyridox is vitamin B6, 50 mg in each tablet.  It is useful for premenstrual tension, and perhaps for other mental/emotional health conditions, and it can be helpful in some cases involving copper imbalance.

Dosage: 1-1-1 to 3-3-3.

Selenium is found in all of the metabolic packs used in nutritional balancing programs because it is very essential today for everyone.  Most people simply do not get enough in their food, or it is in a form that is not well utilized.  Sardines and blue corn products are excellent sources  Brazil nuts are okay, but too yin to be eaten daily.  Other foods are not such good sources, such as other nuts, seeds and grains.

Extra and preferably food-based or yeast-based selenium can be helpful for detoxification of all the heavy metals and toxic chemicals.

Dosage:
100 mcg three times daily.  For more on selenium, an essential supplement, read Selenium on this website.

Spartan MK is potassium and magnesium aspartate.  This product was developed in Europe and is useful for cardiac arrythmias, in particular and perhaps for other heart problems such as palpitations and others.  It may also enhance the energy level in some people, and is a good way to get magnesium and potassium to the cells.

Dosage: 1-1-1 to 3-3-3 as needed.

Super Vital E for circulatory conditions, heart conditions, and other situations in which extra vitamin E is helpful.  However, too much raises the sodium level and is too stimulating for us to use it all the time.  Some is contained in the metabolic packs that are used in nutritional balancing science.

Dosage: 1-1-1 to 3-3-3 in a few cases such as after a heart attack.

Taurine is a sulfur-containing amino acid that is quite important for the human body.  It is only found in meats, so many people are deficient in it if they eat a mainly vegetarian diet.  It is needed in the heart, among many other places.  It is helpful for copper toxicity, general liver detoxification, toxic metal removal, and has a general calming effect on the body.  It is always recommended in cases of four lows pattern on a hair mineral analysis.  I am not sure why it works so well in these cases, and not as well in many others, but it does.  It is also recommended in some cases of seizures or epilepsy.

Dosage: 2-2-2 to up to 4-4-4 rarely.

Veg-Easy is a superb product for those who do not eat enough vegetables, which is almost everyone.  These are capsules of dried vegetables and may be used indefinitely without any problems.  The cost is higher than vegetables, but the capsules are worth it for those who do not like to eat vegetables or are traveling or otherwise cannot eat plenty cooked vegetables.

Dosage: 2-2-2 or even more, indefinitely if needed.

Vitamin K is popular today as it is needed for blood clotting, cardiovascular function, cancer prevention, and many other body activities as well.  It is not sold by Endomet Labs.  For more about this vitamin, read Vitamin K on this website.

However, I find if one eats plenty of cooked vegetables, fresh animal proteins and perhaps some raw dairy products each day, one will get plenty of all forms of vitamin K.  Some doctors may disagree with this, but it is my experience.

PRODUCTS I SUGGEST ADDING TO YOUR PROGRAM IF YOU OBTAIN PRODUCT RECOMMENDATIONS DIRECTLY FROM ANALYTICAL RESEARCH LABORATORIES (as of July 2014)

As of this publication date, the computer at Analytical Research Labs does not include the following products in their recommendations in most cases.  I recommend that most everyone add them to their program, in the doses for adults listed by each one.  Children need proportionately less.  All should be taken with meals.

I have asked that these products be added to the computerized recommendations, but they have not been added so far.  They are:
  1. EPA-DHA 300 (omega-3 fattys acids).  Dose: three per day or about 900 mg daily.
  2. Vitamin D3.  Take one 5000 iu capsule daily.
  3. Kelp.  Take three to six 600 mg capsules daily.
  4. TMG or trimethylglycine.  Take up to 3 grams daily.  Endomet does not sell this product currently.
Other optional products that are helpful for some people.  Do not take these if you are in a four lows pattern:
  1. Veg-Easy.  This is a vegetable capsule.  The dose is three to six daily.
  2. Renamide.  This is kidney glandular, and not primarily herbs, though it contains a few.  Take three to six daily with meals.
  3. Selenium (100 mcg).  This is a food-based selenium supplement.  The dose is up to three tablets daily.

NINE SERVINGS OF VEGETABLES

Please note that there is only one nutritional balancing science, developed by Dr. Paul Eck. All other claims made by other practitioners, not approved by Dr. Lawrence Wilson on his site, have altered Dr. Eck's principles and as such have no in depth understanding of the science, which is very unfortunate.

Further, altering even one aspect of a nutritional balancing program often ruins it rather completely.  This could be substituting different products that you like better, skipping an aspect of the diet or the supplements, or implementing other diets, such as GAPS OR PALEO, OR something else that people do all the time, such for example using other forms of meditation, other than what is recommended by Dr. Wilson.  In other words, using other products or diets, or meditation, conflicts with the entire program and it seriously reduces its effectiveness. Thus, nutritional balancing science is completely integrated, meaning that the sciences are used together in very unique way and should not be altered by yourself or other practitioners.
