The Carnivore Diet
The Carnivore Diet is a recent fad diet.
It is being touted by Jordan Peterson, a Canadian professor of clinical psychology, who became famous after he stood up against neo-Marxist compelled speech laws in Canada in late 2016. Peterson's daughter Mikhaila, swears that eating beef alone and water fixed her health problems. But upon reading Mikhaila Peterson's health issues on her website, clearly her symptoms were all related to copper toxicity. Eating animal protein is crucial to balance copper in our bodies.
The carnivore diet consists of eating animal foods only – muscle and organ meat, poultry, fish, seafood, eggs, collagen (bone broth), fat from the meat, and perhaps some dairy.
It is my opinion that such diet is very deficient, especially for people with digestive issues, which is 95% of the population. It will not work for long-term health.
For health, one needs to eat large quantities of cooked vegetables to supply alkaline reserve minerals and many other nutrients. Of course we also require eating red meat and some other foods.
The carnivore diet may provide short-term benefits because most people overeat on carbohydrates and the carnivore diet eliminates these food entirely. However, following it for more than a few weeks will worsen nutritional deficiencies, which then takes months and sometimes years to rebalance.
Using common sense here is important. We know that eating vegetables is necessary, especially cruciferous vegetables, since research shows that these are a weapon in the battle against cancer as it has been found to inactivate the WWP1 gene which contributes to growth of several common human cancers, as published in Science.
Further, it is important to note that eating only a plant base diet, is as bad as eating only a carnivore diet. While a few people appear to do well on a healthful vegetarian diet, most eventually become lethargic, depressed, and susceptible to yeast infections, cancers and other problems. Most do not live longer and are not healthier. In fact, they may seem very healthy, but in my experience, they die sooner than meat-eating people, at least in America.
In certain illnesses such as active cancer, eliminating red meat and eggs is helpful to reduce one’s iron intake for about a year or so. However, as the body is rebuilt using nutritional balancing science, everyone can benefit by then re-introducing organically-produced flesh foods into the diet.
Suffice to say, a most important principle is to understand what your body needs and being willing to feed your body the right foods. This is an important principle of health. Animal products are helpful for our health, and as such we ought to thank and bless the animals for their gifts but please use common sense and avoid the carnivore diet, which is a very deficient diet, even if you feel better on it short-term.
